Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide person-centered care in a residential setting supporting up to 4 individuals. The role focuses on building relationships, daily living support, and community involvement.

Compensation starts at $16/hr with a potential raise to $16.50/hr after six months and a $1,500 hiring bonus. Shifts run 12-5 and 2-10, with comprehensive training and growth opportunities within LSS.

Qualifications

• Genuine heart for helping others and supporting people in their goals.
• No prior experience or formal education required; training provided.
• Comfort with basic computer use to document care and stay connected with the team.
• Ability to read and write in English to communicate effectively.
• A valid driver's license and safe driving record; able to pass Motor Vehicle Check.
• Ability to pass a DHS background check; ensures a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene, meals, household tasks and transportation
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
• Advocate for people’s rights, needs, and preferences
• Monitor health and wellbeing and report changes as needed

Pay:

• $16.00/hr!
• Upon completion of six months of consistent employment, there is an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $16.50/hr!
• $1,500 Hiring Bonus!*

What You'll Do:

• Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support
• Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene needs, meals, household support/cleaning, and transportation
• Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills
• Advocate for people with identified needs' rights, needs, and preferences
• Monitor health and wellbeing and report changes as needed
• Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings

Work Environment:

• Residential group home setting supporting up to 4 people with identified needs
