Job summary

The Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) in New Jersey is hiring Direct Support Professionals/Residential Counselors to assist residents in group homes, provide daily care, administer medication, and support activities.

We offer full-time, part-time, and substitute positions across 5 New Jersey counties with daytime, afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts. Collegial teamwork and reliable service are essential.

Qualifications

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus
• This career requires HS diploma or equivalent
• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community based activities

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD)

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

Per Diem (M-F 7am-10:30am, All evenings 3:00pm-11:00pm, All overnights 11:00pm-7:00am)

All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting - date/time to be determined and announced in advance
