Job summary

Catholic Charities is seeking a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in group home settings. You will support daily living activities, medication administration, and documentation while promoting residents’ safety and well-being.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliable transportation, and compassionate care, with opportunities to engage in community activities and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Team-oriented approach to caring for residents.
• HS diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet CPR/First Aid requirements.

Responsibilities

• Help meet residents’ personal health, safety and welfare in group homes.
• Assist with daily living activities: bathing/toileting, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers and residents.
• Drive residents to/from day programs and community activities using agency vehicles.
• Maintain daily documentation of services provided.
• Participate in community-based activities with residents.

Department For Persons With Disabilities (DPD)

Regular Salary: $20.49 per hour Mon-Fri and $21.49 per hour (shifts beginning 11PM Friday to 11PM on Sunday). Non-work time will be paid at the base rate.

What’s the role of a Direct Support Professional/Residential Counselor (DSP)?

• Residential Counselor is a direct care professional whose primary responsibility is to help meet the personal health, safety and welfare of the people living in the group home.
• You will assist and/or supervise individuals in personal care areas i.e. bathing/toileting; participate and/or supervise in cleaning, cooking and life skills.
• Administer and/or assist with medication administration.
• You must communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the individuals living in the homes.
• Drive residents to/from day programs, outside/within their community using agency vehicles.
• This position requires daily documentation of services provided.
• Assist with fun community based activities.

Job Requirements

• Be motivated to work as part of a team that acts in the best interest of our residents at all times
• Experience with ID/DD population is a plus
• This career requires HS diploma or equivalent
• A valid (non-provisional) driver’s license
• The ability to meet the physical requirements of CPR/First Aid and our emergency evacuation procedures.

Per Diem: M-F 7am-10:30am, All evenings 3:00pm-11:00pm, All overnights 11:00pm-7:00am

All staff must attend a monthly Staff Meeting – date/time to be determined and announced in advance. Meeting waivers are provided for conflicts due to secondary employment and/or school (appropriate documentation required).
