Job summary

Park Lawn is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Alsip, IL to provide direct care for individuals with intellectual disabilities, assisting with daily living activities and promoting independence.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 18+ years old, clean background checks, and passing pre-employment screening. A valid driver’s license is required; duties include documentation and adherence to DHS-defined programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• No disqualifying events on criminal background check.
• No disqualifying events on Health Care Workers Registry.
• Pass pre-employment physical, drug and alcohol test.
• Valid Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care services for individuals with intellectual disabilities including assistance with activities of daily living such as hygiene, dressing, and eating.
• Train individuals to acquire skills necessary to enhance independence.
• Participate in and implement Individual Habilitation Plans.
• Record observations in participants’ files.
• Write legible, clear, and accurate observations in standard English.
• Able to complete Medication Program required by DHS.
• Lift 50 pounds without assistance; transfer residents from bed to wheelchair and back; operate mechanical lift.
• Stand, sit, walk, reach, grip, bend and lift as assessed by job analysis screening.
• Remain free of alcohol and/or illegal substance use while working; as determined by random testing.
