Community Based Day Support Coordinator – Level I
(non-exempt position)
REPORTS TO: Program Director – Community Based Day Support
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Assigned Program Participants
The CBDS Coordinator – Level I assists individuals with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities to build and maintain their ability to participate in community activities by focusing on skill areas that include communication, self-care, relationship-building and community involvement. The CBDS Coordinator Level I is responsible for implementing the Individual Support Plan objectives and documenting their progress.
The CBDS Coordinator Level I position is “hands on” which requires all work, with the exception of visits to off-site locations to provide support and training, to be performed at AGB offices. This is not a “remote” position.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
At least six months related experience and/or training in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and demonstrated working knowledge of principles of positively supporting this population.
The employee will be trained in Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and management of aggressive behavior (i.e. NVMAB) and be capable of implementing these management techniques, which may involve physical contact in emergency situations. The employee will be trained in First Aid and CPR.
A satisfactory background check, including CORI, SORI, and Fingerprinting is required. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record and background check is required.
The employee must be a positive team player and have the ability to work harmoniously with those served, their families, staff and other professionals. The employee must be able to take instruction from the Program Director as well as work independently. Employee must display a professional manner and exhibit diplomacy and confidentiality when working with those served. The employee must possess patience, good judgment, tact, accuracy, and reliability. They must possess good communication skills and have the ability to speak comfortably, intelligibly, pleasantly and efficiently with those served, their families, colleagues and management staff, even in difficult situations. The employee must be an active listener and utilize clear and direct communication. They must demonstrate multi-tasking skills and exhibit effective time management, and the Individual must demonstrate attention to detail, as well as possess good observation skills.
The employee must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and procedure manuals. They must have the ability to compose routine reports and correspondence, and have the ability to communicate effectively in front of groups of participants or agency employees. The employee must be able to fluently speak and understand English for effective teamwork and coordination. Bi-lingual language skills may be helpful.
The employee must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. They must have the ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. They must have the ability to assess situations and resolve problems without supervision.
