Qualifications

Direct Support Professionals at Merrick, Inc. support clients with high behavior support needs to earn a meaningful wage through work contracts every day! As a DSP, you will assist clients in developing job skills by encouraging them to complete work tasks, track their time, and work on positive behavior techniques, all while focusing on their person-centered plans. Merrick, Inc. is the largest Day Program in Ramsey County, with more than 400 clients in our employment, vocational rehabilitation, and life enrichment programs! DSP Responsibilities:

• Work with clients on positive behavior techniques and their person-centered plans.
• Encourage clients to reach their personal and employment goals.
• Provide support, redirecting, and de-escalation to clients during challenging behavior situations.
• Train and monitor clients to perform work-related jobs.
• Be engaged throughout the day with clients.
• Complete client paperwork and attendance.
• Meet the transportation needs of clients including assisting in loading and unloading clients safely and reliably.
• Assist clients in personal cares such as, toileting, as needed.

DSP Qualifications:

• High School Diploma.
• Experience working and assisting clients with challenging behaviors and de-escalation.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to use electronic devices including databases and internet-based applications.

Essential Physical Functions

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential responsibilities of this position successfully.
