Job summary

Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, seeks an Engineering Applications Software Engineer I to advance telemetry processing software for DSN Data Services. You will design, develop, test, and maintain software under the direction of development engineers.

Responsibilities include implementing changes, unit testing, writing technical docs, and supporting DSN operations, with emphasis on teamwork and communication. A BS or higher in engineering/CS/math is required.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, CS, or Math with related experience
• Master’s degree options acceptable with minimal experience
• Proficiency in C/C++, Java, Perl or Python
• Experience with XML/JSON data formats
• Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, sockets)
• Unix-based system experience
• Experience with static analysis tools
• Experience building automated unit tests
• Experience with packaging software
• Ability to write technical documents and participate in code reviews
• Strong written and verbal communication in a team

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain DSN telemetry processing software
• Implement change requests, new requirements, and fixes under guidance
• Perform unit testing and support testing activities
• Document requirements, design, and user guides
• Provide operations support and follow configuration management processes
