DSHS Direct Support Professional/Attendant Counselor 2

Description

Want to put your passion to work? In this job, you will assist adults with developmental disabilities to live full, empowered lives. Each individual has unique support needs, which may include personal care, household tasks, community activities, and health support. This essential position offers paid training, excellent benefits, and the chance to make a difference!

This position is located at Yakima Valley School, where you'll interact with clients in a residential setting, providing care and engaging in therapeutic activities on and off-campus. You'll partner with residents and their families, providing choices in all areas of their lives.

Opportunities on-site at least three days a week may qualify for an additional 5% premium pay, plus shift differentials for evening and night shifts. The shift time is 10:00pm - 6:30am.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coaching, teaching, and mentoring individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Assisting with daily living skills and implementing support plans
  • Transporting clients and accompanying them to appointments and community activities
  • Building relationships and ensuring a safe, clean living environment
  • Maintaining client records using electronic data systems

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED and one year of experience with individuals with developmental disabilities in relevant settings
  • Active CNA/NAC/NAR license

Skills and abilities:

  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Punctuality and responsibility
  • Ability to work with challenging individuals and in teams or independently
  • Following policies and procedures
