Position Overview

Western State Hospital (WSH) in Lakewood, Washington, is seeking Psychiatrists to lead multi-disciplinary inpatient treatment teams for general adult, geriatric, and forensic populations. The role requires strong psychopharmacology skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other professionals. WSH is one of the largest psychiatric hospitals west of the Mississippi River, with over 800 beds and approximately 2,500 full-time staff.

About Western State Hospital

WSH provides evaluation and inpatient treatment for adults with serious or long-term behavioral health issues, including forensic, civil, and long-term civil wards for both non-geriatric and geriatric adults.

Responsibilities
  • Certify the medical necessity of hospital-level care
  • Prescribe and review medications and treatments
  • Perform ongoing assessments of patient responses
  • Develop and review discharge plans or justifications for continued inpatient care
Qualifications
  • Valid medical license in Washington State
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Psychiatry
  • Strong psychopharmacology skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
