Job summary

State of Washington Dept. of Social and Health Services is seeking a Warehouse Operator 2 to join the Rainier School facility in Buckley, WA. The role focuses on receiving, storing, and distributing supplies, maintaining inventories, and supporting unit needs within a 100% onsite work schedule.

You will work with vendors and internal staff to resolve delivery and stock issues, ensuring accurate counts and efficient distribution to residents and staff across the site.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of clerical or technical experience in retail, warehousing, stockkeeping, shipping, or receiving.
  • Equivalent education/experience accepted.

  • Receive and inspect deliveries by unloading shipments, verifying condition and accuracy, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized warehouse spaces by stocking shelves, repacking merchandise, filling orders, and maximizing storage.
  • Prepare orders for distribution to units, departments, and facility areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems.
  • Conduct scheduled inventory activities including monthly, quarterly, and annual counts.
  • Coordinate facility-wide distribution to ensure goods are received, stored, accounted for, and issued.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain product information, resolve delivery issues, and expedite orders.

Warehouse Operator 2

We are seeking a Warehouse Operator 2 to join our warehousing team at Rainier School in Buckley, Washington. This position serves within the Consolidated Business Services (CBS) Region 2 within the Finance, Technology, and Analytics Administration (FTAA).

This position supports daily warehouse operations by receiving, verifying, storing, and distributing products and supplies throughout the facility. You’ll maintain organized and properly stocked warehouse areas, support inventory activities, and use inventory management systems to issue, receive, and maintain accurate inventory records.

You’ll work with vendors and staff to resolve delivery, inventory, and customer service issues while helping ensure goods and supplies are available and distributed efficiently to support residents, staff, and facility operations. Please note: The position is 100% onsite, Monday through Friday.

Pierce County employees are eligible to receive an Orca Card for transportation needs. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you’ll do:
  • Receive and inspect deliveries by unloading shipments, verifying condition and accuracy, and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized warehouse spaces by stocking shelves, repacking merchandise, filling orders, and maximizing available storage.
  • Pick and prepare orders for distribution to units, departments, and other facility areas.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using applicable inventory management and reporting systems.
  • Conduct scheduled inventory activities including monthly, quarterly, and annual counts.
  • Coordinate facility-wide distribution to ensure goods are properly received, stored, accounted for, and issued.
  • Work with internal customers to identify specifications and requirements for requested goods and materials.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain product information, resolve delivery issues, and expedite orders.
  • Process receiving documentation and forward required information to CBS2 for timely vendor payment.
  • Assist staff and customers with product selection, availability, order status, and other warehouse-related inquiries.
Skills and abilities:
  • Knowledge of inventory control practices, warehousing methods, and effective storage techniques.
  • Ability to learn inventory systems and use specialized supply-management software accurately.
  • Ability to organize warehouse operations to ensure safe, efficient receiving, storage, inventory control, and distribution.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, delivery vehicles, and related tools.
  • Ability to perform physical warehouse tasks while following proper safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities by organizing tasks and meeting established deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written formats and follow written and verbal instructions.
Who should apply?

Professionals with a high school graduation or GED and physical ability to do required work and one year of clerical or technical experience in retail clerking, warehousing, stockkeeping, shipping, or receiving and operation of material handling equipment.
