Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 2 years of experience working with DD clients.
  • Experience as an Attendant Counselor 1 or higher-level state class.

Job description

Lakeland Attendant Counselor 3

Lakeland Village Residential Habilitation Center has an opportunity for you to use your coaching and mentoring skills to work with people with intellectual disabilities.

As an Attendant Counselor 3, you will be a shift charge, assist, train, monitor, and keep DD clients free of abuse/neglect in a home-like setting. Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team following IMR/Nursing Home Regulations.

This is a night shift opportunity from 10:30 pm - 7:00 am. Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Some of what you'll do:
  1. As a shift charge, assign staff duties, instruct and check the work of others
  2. Assist and train or maintain clients in all areas of ADL's and personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, social behavior, behavioral management, choice-making, and household management
  3. Transport clients to appointments, activities, etc.
  4. Provide money management opportunities whenever appropriate
  5. Observe, document, and report changes in individuals' physical/mental conditions or unusual behaviors; provide client safety, security, and protection
  6. Implement individual programs, plans, and services that are designed to maintain skills and facilitate independence; carry out prescribed programs as daily schedules require or as written
  7. Provide care in accordance with the Care Plan/IHP
  8. Perform light housekeeping duties and launder clients' personal clothing and bedding

We're looking for professionals who have successfully demonstrated:
  1. Good judgment in supporting clients in crisis by emphasizing the helping relationship using program-approved methods
  2. Willingness and ability to transport clients as necessary
  3. Effective communication with management, peers, clients, and the public as required to carry out the assigned duties of the position

  2. Or, high school graduation or GED and two years of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1, equivalent or higher-level state class
