DSHS's Finance, Technology, and Analytics Administration (FTAA) is looking to hire a licensed CDL Truck Driver 2 for the Eastern State Hospital and Lakeland Village Residential Habilitation Center campus in Medical Lake. Imagine driving with less or no traffic, going home at the same time every day and creating opportunities for other activities. As a DSHS truck driver, these things will become your reality. Each day, you will have a routine and accomplish job responsibilities without the obstacles most CDL drivers confront in their workday.
Please note: This is a non-perm position and is currently expected to last around 5-6 months. This may change due to business needs.
Our drivers operate medium to large trucks, buses, and special vehicles between 28,000 GVW and 60,000 GVW to safely deliver food, laundry, furniture, and commissary supplies. Operation of vehicles such as trash/recycle trucks, street sweepers, forklifts, fleet cars, and seasonal snow equipment is also possible. You will also load, unload, and transport freight, mail, and other packages by hand and use of liftgate, forklift, pallet jack, and hand dolly. You will be responsible to transport staff safely and patiently throughout the campus and off-campus day trips during all weather conditions in passenger vans or buses, which may include assisting patients and clients in and out of the vehicle or on/off wheelchair lift. Climbing into trucks and out onto concrete is frequent. Safety inspections, fueling, maintaining mileage logs, cleaning interiors and exteriors of vehicles are considered daily responsibilities.
Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history may be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the job. This announcement may be used to fill multiple vacancies. Employees driving on state business must have a valid driver's license. Employees driving a privately owned vehicle on state business must have liability insurance on the privately owned vehicle.
