Job description

We are hiring a Lead Electrician to oversee journeymen electricians in completing their duties by assigning tasks, correcting work, and specifying installation methods. Our team manages electrical systems across multiple locations at DSHS's Medical Lake healthcare campus. You will perform skilled installation, maintenance, and repair work on electrical equipment and systems.

  • On-site work at this location at least three days a week may qualify for an additional 5% premium pay.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Perform all duties of a journeyman electrician and lead electrician.
  2. Ensure tasks assigned to other electricians meet safety and code requirements.
  3. Maintain and repair emergency electrical generators, including monthly testing and record-keeping.
  4. Maintain and troubleshoot electric motors and control systems, including water pumps, HVAC fan motors, and food service equipment.
  5. Repair fire alarm, nurse call, and motor control interfacing systems.
  6. Maintain communication systems such as telephone, CCTV, and fiber optics.
  7. Manage interior and exterior lighting components.
  8. Operate electrical test equipment like volt/ohm meters and phase rotation meters.
  9. Maintain alarm systems, surveillance cameras, and patient care equipment.
  10. Follow blueprints and develop estimates for projects.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess an EL01 electrical license/certificate, have completed a recognized apprenticeship, or have full journey status as an electrician, or have four years of relevant work experience. Vocational training may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis.

Desired Skills
  • Ability to work at heights using ladders, bucket trucks, and lifts.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and sketches, estimating, and using hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical practices, codes, safety standards, and materials.
