DSHS Direct Support Professional/Attendant Counselor 2

Each individual has unique support needs, your support may include cooking, personal care tasks, household tasks, community activities, medication administration and support to maintain good physical, behavioral and emotional health. This essential position provides paid training, excellent benefits and the ability to make a difference! This position works with both adults and children.

Please note: We have openings for multiple shifts are available; Day shift, Swing and Night shift.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Evening and night shifts include a shift differential, in addition to the standard compensation rate.


Some of What You'll Do:

  • Observes, documents, and reports changes in clients' general physical or mental condition, or unusual behavior and takes appropriate action to provide client safety, security, and protection from abuse and neglect
  • Functions as a member of a team, including developing, modifying, and carrying out planned formal (data-based) and informal (non-data based) programs assessing and reporting outcomes; programs may include activities of daily living, educational, therapeutic, or behavioral under the direction of an appropriate specialist, Quality Assurance Manager, Program Administrator, or Attendant Counselor Manager (ACM)
  • Promotes habilitation, health, safety, protection, and quality of life to individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Trains and assists clients in their own self-care including bathing, dressing, grooming, and household skills; including meal preparation, laundry, financial management; participates in the care and treatment of clients receiving specialized treatments and services
  • Escorts, monitors, participates in, or trains clients in groups or individually, to, during and from recreational and social activities, employment, medical, dental, wellness appointments, and other activities at home or in the community

Who should apply?

High school graduation or GED and one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities.

OR

High school graduation or GED and one year of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1, equivalent or higher-level state class.
