Join our team as a Food Service Supervisor 2 at our newest behavioral health treatment campus, Maple Lane in Grand Mound, near Centralia, WA. We’re hiring for multiple vacancies and seeking skilled leaders dedicated to food service management and a commitment to excellence.

Behavioral Health Treatment Center Maple Lane offers innovative treatment for residents who are civilly committed, in need of competency restoration, or adjudicated not guilty by reason of mental diagnosis. Each residential unit helps shape the future of behavioral health, aligning with Washington State’s vision of community-based care. Treating residents in smaller facilities helps them stay closer to home, family, and support systems, fostering stronger community connections.

As Maple Lane BHTC Food Service Supervisor, you will oversee daily food preparation and service, including specialized dietary meals, while managing large-scale cooking operations. This leadership role involves supervising and training staff, maintaining compliance with safety and sanitation standards, and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. Your work will directly contribute to the health and well-being of residents by providing nutritious meals tailored to their needs. Maple Lane is a key business unit of DSHS's Behavioral Health Administration, where our dedicated staff offers residents enriching opportunities and experiences outside the hospital setting, preparing them for a smooth transition back into the community.

Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Evening shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate.

Some of what you will do:

• Lead, mentor, and coordinate staff and resident workers in daily food production, fostering a disciplined yet supportive environment, effectively managing incidents with established protocols.
• Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of management, including meal preparation, loading, and documentation, and ensuring timely food distribution.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, and equipment usage standards while addressing supply needs and managing inventory.
• Coordinate and adjust menus as necessary to address food shortages, staffing issues, and patients’ special dietary needs.
• Conduct daily meetings, complete staff and patient evaluations, and manage leave schedules with Food Service Manager approval.
• Handle inquiries related to patient meals, special diets, and events, ensuring proper communication and resolution of issues.
• Perform administrative tasks, including completing daily forms, and maintaining records.

Who should apply: Customer service professionals who maintain a valid county issued Food Handler’s Permit within 15 days of employment, along with one of these qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate, with 4 years of experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional food service or patient tray service, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory role.
• Or, associate degree in food service management, nutritional care, or a related field, plus at least one year of food service supervisory experience.
• Or, bachelor’s degree with major coursework in restaurant or hotel management, or a closely related field.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

• Large-scale food preparation methods, hygiene standards, and safety protocols.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment, utensils, and effective record-keeping practices.
• Supervision, training, or management of staff and volunteers.
• Problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
