Job summary

The Sherwin-Williams Company in Winter Haven, FL is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment in a safe, efficient manner.

Duties include preventive maintenance, electrical and pneumatic work, pipe fitting, and assisting in the installation of new plant equipment while supporting other departments to ensure uptime and quality.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Minimum 1 year of mechanic experience in manufacturing/distribution environments.
• Two years of mechanic experience preferred.
• Industrial/electrical/welding certification or license preferred.
• Experience applying electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic concepts.
• Experience implementing PLCs.

Responsibilities

• Check and refill lubricant reservoirs, apply grease to lubrication points, inspect machinery during preventive maintenance.
• Operate shop tools and equipment related to maintenance and repair.
• Repair and replace defective components; assist in dismantling machinery as needed.
• Assist in electrical projects and perform minor electrical repairs.
• Understand electrical diagrams; diagnose 115 VAC circuits.
• Assist in pipe fitting and installation tasks.
• Maintain and service HVAC, lighting, water and sewer systems.
• Assist installation of new plant equipment.
• Maintain production equipment uptime for safe, timely manufacturing.
• Support site housekeeping and safety programs.

Job description

This position performs the necessary maintenance duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety and production maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

Additional Information:

Schedule: 3rd Shift Sunday - Thursday 10:00 pm - 6:00 am

Shift Differential: $0.75/hour

This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company's applicable plans.

Job duties include contact with other employees, operating heavy machinery, and access to proprietary information, raw materials, finished merchandise, and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and vendors.

• Checks and refills lubricant reservoirs, applies grease to lubricant points, inspects machinery while performing scheduled preventative maintenance
• Operate shop tools, equipment, and as many machines related to maintenance as skill level will permit
• Able to make some repairs and adjustments to machinery and assist in dismantling all or parts of machinery to repair or replace defective components
• Assists in electrical projects and performs minor electrical repairs
• Understands basic electrical and pneumatic diagrams, familiar with 12 VDC to 480 VAC electrical wiring or circuits and capable of diagnosing 115 VAC control circuitry
• Assists in pipe fitting tasks and able to perform some installation tasks unassisted
• Perform certain portions of repairs to power industrial equipment, assists in rebuilding of related equipment
• Maintains and services a range of building equipment such as HVAC, lighting, water and sewer, etc.
• Assists in the installation of new plant equipment
• Assists other departments as needed
• Maintains production equipment in good operating condition while optimizing equipment uptime to insure the safe and timely manufacture of quality powder coatings.
• Improved reliability and operating efficiency of plant equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance tasks in a timely manner to insure operation of all equipment, in an efficient and safe manner.
• Support site housekeeping and safety programs, maintaining a work place that is clean and safe.
• Participation towards completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
• Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
• Must have at least one (1) year of work experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Have at least two (2) years of work experience as a mechanic in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment
• Have an industrial, electrical, and/or welding certification or license
• Have at least one (1) year of maintenance experience applying electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic concepts
• Have at least one (1) year of work experience implementing Programmable Logic Controls ("PLC")
