Job summary

Hunters Run Country Club is seeking a skilled Drywall & Plaster Maintenance Technician to plan, perform, and oversee drywall installations, finishing, plaster repair, and refinishing. You will also handle related duties per the Facility Management Team’s needs.

Responsibilities include hanging drywall, applying joint compound, repairing damage, matching textures, and inspecting for moisture or structural issues while ensuring dust control and safety standards in luxury club spaces.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional drywall and plaster experience.
  • Proficient with drywall/plaster tools (trowels, hawks, taping knives, saws, automatic tapers, sanding equipment).
  • Experience in private clubs, hotels or resorts preferred.
  • Painting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install, hang, tape and finish drywall with proper alignment and fastenings.
  • Apply mudding, feather joints, and sand finishes to Level 4/5 standards.
  • Repair patches for drywall, walls, ceilings across clubhouse and facilities.
  • Match wall textures and reproduce various finishes for seamless repairs.
  • Inspect for structural problems and moisture/mold, report issues to management.
  • Paint and maintain painted surfaces across facilities.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

A Drywall & Plaster Maintenance Technician primary role is to plan, perform, and oversee a variety of drywall installations, finishing, plaster repair, and refinishing activities required to ensure maintenance of facility aesthetics. Performs additional department‑related duties as requested by the Facility Management Team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Install, hang, and tape new drywall sheets, ensuring proper alignment, secure fastening, and clean corner beads.
  • Apply, feather, and sand joint compound (mudding) across joints, corners, and fastener heads to achieve smooth, seamless surfaces (Level 4 and Level 5 finishes).
  • Repair and patch damaged drywall, holes, water damage, cracks, and blemishes in walls and ceilings across the clubhouse, residential units, and facility buildings.
  • Match and replicate various wall textures (e.g., knockdown, orange peel, popcorn, smooth, skip‑trowel) to ensure invisible repairs.
  • Assess, repair, and stabilize traditional plaster walls and ceilings, including lath repair, securing loose plaster, and applying multi‑coat plaster systems.
  • Inspect walls and ceilings for structural integrity, moisture damage, or mold before performing drywall/plaster repairs, reporting significant issues to management.
  • Paint, maintain and repair painted, wall‑covered, stained, and varnished surfaces of building structures, rooms, furniture, and equipment throughout the facilities.
Inventory & Safety Compliance
  • Manage related supply inventory, including drywall sheets, joint compounds, tapes, plaster mixes, textures, and specialized hand/power tools.
  • Follow OSHA/MSDS guidelines with respect to use of hazardous chemicals; use proper ventilation when using paint removers, varnishes, cleaners, etc.
  • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during sanding, mixing plaster, and spraying (e.g., respirators, dust masks, safety glasses).
  • Familiarize with storage and disposal laws, regulations, codes, etc.
  • Thoroughly clean area, supplies, and equipment when a project is completed, ensuring dust control measures are strictly followed in member areas.
Education / Experience
  • 5 to 10 years of experience as a professional drywall and plaster tech, with at least 3–5 years of dedicated experience in drywall hanging, finishing, mudding, and plaster repair.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing drywall/plaster tools (e.g., trowels, hawks, taping knives, drywall saws, automatic tapers, and sanding equipment).
  • Private club, hotel or resort experience preferred.
  • Experience in the construction, remodeling, or restoration field is a plus.
  • Experience in painting is a plus.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to comfortably work in an intensely deadline‑oriented environment.
  • Ability to use systems and technology to manage work orders.
  • Work environment frequently involves exposure to drywall dust and paint fumes; adherence to dust containment protocols in luxury club spaces is mandatory. Must be at least 18 years old and available to work a varied schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
Licenses or Certificates
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification a plus.
  • Certifications and training in painting, drywall installation, or historic plaster restoration is a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Employee is regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and operate; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear.
  • Employee is frequently required to walk, bend, kneel, climb, crawl into small spaces, push, pull, reach and occasionally lift and/or move 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to use step ladders, extension ladders, and 6ft scaffolding.
  • The job consists of both inside and outside work. Precautions should be taken for work performed outside for extended periods of time.
