Position Summary

Operates as a Dryer Operator and Plant Operator to assure product is dried to specifications and loaded for transport, while maintaining plant operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include, but are not limited to, the following.

Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Sets up and runs all products through dryers safely and efficiently.

Tends drying machines that reduce moisture content of sand & gravel. Reviews data concerning moisture content of product to be dried.

Oversees loading of trucks and rail with product for shipment.

Operates front-end loader to move and position rail cars for loading and shipment, and skid-loader for general clean up around the Dryer Plant.

Assists with unloading sand railcars.

Performs routine maintenance on equipment by lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.

Participates in maintenance planning to determine proper operation of the dryer.

Perform start-up maintenance and shut down procedures for the physical location/plant.

Assures safe operation of equipment.

Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

• High school education or GED; and
• 6 months previous hands-on experience with heavy equipment and/or plant equipment; or
• equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid Driver’s License

Skills and Abilities

• Must have good mechanical skills and previous heavy equipment hands‑on experience.
• Must be able to work flexible and long hours; the job is typically 8-10 hours and year round; based on weather conditions however, there may be times when work is limited.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
• Able to adapt to outside work environments which could include cold, heat, wind, rain, snow and slippery surfaces.
• Able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
• Must be able to pass a pulmonary function test for respirator use while working in the plant.
