Job summary

RTX is hiring a Chemical Process Technician II for its Lenexa, KS site. This onsite role runs 1st shift, 6:00am–2:30pm, and involves operating equipment to process materials for oxygen generator lines. You will follow SOPs, monitor quality, and maintain a safe, clean work area.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma/GED and strong attention to detail. You will support production, handle basic inventory tasks, and escalate complex issues to higher levels as needed.

Security Clearance Status: Not RequiredAs a Chemical Process Technician II, you play a critical role in the manufacturing and production of our Oxygen Generator lines. You will operate automatic and/or manual equipment to process manufacturing batches of bulk materials/ingredients including mechanical processing (e.g., mixing, grinding, separating, filtering, etc.) and chemical processing (altering the chemical properties of materials through chemical reactions and changing temperature, pressure, etc.) in accordance with operating procedures in order to complete specific production steps or processes. Bonds a variety of dissimilar materials assemblies, components, equipment or structures into semi-finished or finished products. Performs surface finishing of parts, components, and assembled items including washing/ painting/plating/anti-corrosion coating, hardening, polishing/engraving/etching, etc. Monitors and verifies quality of finished product in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures.

Shift Details
  • This is for 1st shift.
  • Monday through Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm.

  • Measures and mix dry chemical solutions following standardized formulas or protocols to create life-saving oxygen systems
  • Demonstrates an overall understanding of plant safety rules, regulations, and company safety policies/procedures
  • Perform all work in compliance with standard operating procedures, utilizing current skills and safety requirements including, Personal Protective Equipment requirements
  • Maintain and expect high housekeeping and organizational standards
  • Frequently uses and applies technical principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Applies acquired job skills in the execution of existing procedures to complete assigned tasks
  • Follows routines to achieve day-to-day objectives.

  • Performs more involved tasks, requiring minor adjustments to work methods.
  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of basic scope and complexity

  • Operates production equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and established procedures.
  • Reviews pre-production activities to advance process to production.
  • Inspects parts for defects and performs quality control procedures to ensure that products meet company standards.

  • Manages inventory for materials used in production and orders new supplies as needed.
  • Follows safety protocols and adheres to established processes to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Works under direct supervision with limited discretion.
Qualification You Must Have
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Qualification We Prefer
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions and protocols
  • Strong Knowledge of chemical processing principles, equipment and procedures
  • Prior experience to work in a collaborative manufacturing team
Environment, Health & Safety Requirements
  • Position requires work in a chemical manufacturing environment with routine use of Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), chemical protective clothing, gloves, boots and other required PPE. All required PPE is provided by the Company. All work is completed in an air conditioned, climate-controlled and very clean work environment. Must be able to meet the requirements of the respiratory protection program including medical evaluation.
