Main Purpose: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Operator to manage the day-to-day commercial and operational activities of dry bulk vessels. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of shipping logistics, charter party terms, and global maritime operations, with a focus on delivering efficient, safe, and cost-effective voyages, while ensuring proper operation of TC and spot vessels and maximize performance – time charter equivalent (TCE), following global standards and international regulations at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake voyage planning to meet international regulation and respond to vessel issues
- Handle bunkers optimisation, optimize port rotation, and track voyage KPIs including vessel performance, demurrage exposure, and TCE
- Review stowage planning, cargo handling coordination, appointment of agents and real-time resolution of issues
- Coordinate with shipowners, charterers, brokers, port agents, and inspection companies to ensure smooth and efficient voyage execution
- Provide Voyage Orders to vessels
- Monitor vessels performance during all voyages, ie speed and consumptions
- Handle questionnaires, certificates, LOI’s and all relevant supporting documents
- Update company’s software with required data
- Ensure compliance with Trafigura’s global policies and procedures at all times
- Liaise with customers (internal and external) on cargo readiness, vessel schedules etc.
- Engage in claims handling, laytime calculations, and prompt settlement of disputes
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of sea and/or shore experience in same position
- Degree in Business Management or Maritime Studies
- Handy, Supramax, Panamax and Cape size experience required
- Good knowledge of Charter Party Compliance & Commercial Risk Assessment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong business acumen and commercial approach
- Adaptiveness to working in a multinational, high paced and challenging environment
- Capable of negotiating firmly but politely with international customers
