Job summary

School of Rock Wake Forest is seeking a Drum Instructor/Teacher to join our growing community of music education. You will deliver private lessons and school shows, ensuring students learn core fundamentals and performance skills.

The role emphasizes instruction quality, student progress communication with parents, lesson planning, and active participation in rehearsals and school activities. This position is based at our Wake Forest location and offers opportunities to mentor young musicians.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally.
• Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design.
• Excellent ability to deal with a wide range of customers and people.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong customer relations skills and problem-solving abilities.
• Ideal candidate is a working musician with formal music school training.
• Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor.
• Good judgment and passion for teaching.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows.
• Be sure the students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs.
• Create and document thoughtful lesson plans.
• Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons.
• Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school.
• Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall execution of the program.
• Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school.
• Adheres to the School of Rock Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
