Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; alternatively, at least two years of relevant experience in human services, behavioral health, criminal justice, healthcare, specimen collection, or a related field
  • Drug testing or specimen collection experience preferred but not required; training will be provided
  • Ability to perform directly observed collections for same-gender clients when required by program and referral requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a mobile caseload
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients and multidisciplinary professionals
  • Comfortable working in client homes and a variety of community environments
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to successfully complete required background checks and drug screening
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends based on testing needs
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout assigned service areas

Responsibilities

  • Conduct approved drug and alcohol testing, including urinalysis (UA), oral fluid testing, sweat patch testing, and breath alcohol testing
  • Conduct directly observed collections when required
  • Follow company policies, referral requirements, testing procedures, and applicable standards
  • Maintain accurate chain of custody and specimen integrity
  • Prepare, package, and ship laboratory specimens accurately and within required timelines
  • Complete clear, accurate, and timely testing documentation
  • Monitor assigned testing schedules and complete testing within required/randomized timeframes
  • Communicate professionally with clients, referral sources, supervisors, and other team members
  • Document and report admissions, refusals, no-shows, collection issues, suspected tampering, and other irregularities according to program procedures
  • Provide clients with clear instructions regarding collection procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy and company requirements
  • Maintain testing supplies and assist with inventory management
  • Accurately document mileage, travel, and work time according to company procedures
  • Maintain flexibility for urgent, short-notice, evening, and weekend testing needs
  • Assist with Drug Testing scheduling, specimen tracking, quality assurance, and other program operations as assigned
  • Participate in required training, competency assessments, quality reviews, and continuing education
  • Maintain professionalism, neutrality, client dignity, and appropriate boundaries during all services
  • Follow all company safety, documentation, and compliance requirements

Job Title: Drug Testing Specialist

Starting Compensation: $22.00 per hour

Additional Compensation:$18.00/hour for eligible drive time. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.55 per mile after the employee reaches 60 miles of travel to the service location one way

Schedule:Primarily Monday–Friday with required flexibility for some evenings and weekends

Position Summary

The Drug Testing Specialist is a dedicated member of A Blessing of Hope's Drug Testing Program responsible for providing professional, accurate, timely, and reliable drug and alcohol testing services.

The Specialist will conduct testing, maintain specimen integrity and chain of custody, complete required documentation, and support the day-to-day operational needs of the Drug Testing Program.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently in both field and administrative settings.

This position is intended to perform directly observed collections for clients when the referral, testing procedure, or program requirements require same-gender collection. Maintaining client privacy, dignity, professionalism, and neutrality is essential.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position consisting of field-based testing and administrative responsibilities. Testing may occur at client homes, ABOH offices, community settings, or other approved testing locations. Administrative responsibilities may be completed remotely or at an ABOH office as appropriate.

Regular travel throughout assigned Nebraska service areas is required. Drug Testing will remain the employee's primary responsibility; available capacity may also be used for Drug Testing administrative, quality assurance, training, outreach, or other approved program-support activities.

Compensation & Growth

The Drug Testing Specialist remains eligible for standard wage progression and performance-based increases. As the Drug Testing Program continues to grow, the position may also become eligible for productivity-based incentives. Incentive eligibility will be contingent upon meeting established standards for quality, documentation, attendance, and compliance.
