Job Title: Drug Screener

Job Code: T6001/Support Services Worker

Shift: PRN 19 Hours Per Week, Share of Evenings and Saturday Days (no staff is expected to work every shift; shifts are signed up for monthly)

Job Hours: M-Th 3:45pm-8:30pm, Sat 7:45am-1:30pm

Location: Lawrenceville, GA / Court Services

Division: Gwinnett Court Services Programs

Position Overview

The Male Drug Screener, under supervision, provides urine collection services for participants in various programs. Responsibilities include:

  1. Completing paperwork and logs related to drug tests.
  2. Ensuring no contraband is brought into the testing room.
  3. Monitoring clients during drug screens to maintain sample integrity.
  4. Reporting notable information to appropriate personnel.
  5. Maintaining inventory supplies.
  6. Building positive relationships with individuals and agencies involved with Court Services.
  7. Providing courtroom testimony if required.
  8. Continuously assessing and improving service delivery methods.
  9. Completing special projects as directed by supervisors.
Screening Procedures
  • Set up at 3:45pm (7:45am on Saturday): sanitize tables, prepare supplies, and organize materials.
  • Start screening at 4:00pm (8:00am on Saturday): clients sign in, fill out forms, and provide samples.
  • End of shift at 8:15pm (1:15pm on Saturday): pack up supplies and email reports.
  • Lock the building at the end of each shift.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and six months of related experience. Must be male to comply with BFOQ requirements for gender-specific urine collection.

Preferred Experience
  • Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Lab services experience
  • Experience with criminal justice populations
  • Probation experience
Skills and Abilities
  • Record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills, bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and sit/stand for long periods
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license and clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Pass criminal background check and drug screening
