Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Drug GM department. Support the day-to-day operations of the Drug GM department. Responsibilities
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
- Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals.
- Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
- Train and develop associates on their job performance and participate in the performance appraisal process.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to customer questions and suggestions.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
- Inform customers of Drug GM specials.
- Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
- Understand the store’s layout and locate products efficiently.
- Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
- Inform and educate department associates about current, upcoming, and special in-store promotions, especially those affecting Drug GM.
- Prepare and submit seasonal critiques for the sales and merchandising supervisor.
- Implement the promotional plan for the department.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Monitor and control departmental expenses.
- Maintain awareness of inventory and stocking conditions; note discrepancies.
- Schedule price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
- Supervise inventory processes.
- Train associates on inventory management and Computer Assisted Ordering.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report safety risks, theft, or fraud.
- Work cooperatively in high-paced, stressful environments.
- Manage conflicts reasonably and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Effective communication skills
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
