Job summary

State of Mississippi’s Harrison County office is seeking a School Attendance Officer (Full-Time) to enforce compulsory attendance laws in 24 - Harrison County, MS. Duties include enforcing state regulations and dropout prevention within the Office of Compulsory School Attendance Enforcement.

Ideal candidates will have a college degree in behavioral science or at least 3 years of relevant combined experience such as teaching, administration, law enforcement, or social work, with a strong capacity

Qualifications

• Preferred: a college degree with a major in a behavioral science or related field.
• Alternatively, no less than 3 years combined experience as a school teacher, school administrator, law enforcement officer with such degree, or social worker.
• Exercising a high degree of independent judgment in appraising situations and making decisions.

Responsibilities

• Implement and ensure statewide compliance with the Mississippi Compulsory School Attendance Law.
• Engage in dropout prevention efforts and enforcement of regulations or policies adopted by the State Board of Education.
