Job summary

Sheridan County YMCA is seeking a Drop-In Childcare Provider to supervise and engage children in a safe, nurturing setting while their parents participate in YMCA programs. The role emphasizes patience, communication with families, and creating fun, constructive activities for various ages.

You will receive training in CPR & First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Emergency Procedures, along with ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Is at least 16 years old.
  • Enjoys working with children of various ages.
  • Is dependable, enthusiastic, and compassionate.
  • Communicates well with children, parents, and coworkers.
  • Can stay calm, solve problems, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Has previous childcare experience (preferred but not required).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise children in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

Schedule: Monday thru Friday, 7:45am to 1:30pm

The Sheridan County YMCA is looking for caring individuals to join our Childcare team and help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and thrive while their parents enjoy the YMCA.

What You'll Do

As a Drop-In Childcare Provider, you'll:

  • Supervise children in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

  • Plan and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities.

  • Maintain a clean, organized classroom and accurate program records.

Training You'll Receive

The YMCA provides required training, including:

  • CPR & First Aid

  • Child Abuse Prevention

  • Emergency Procedures

  • Ongoing professional development and state-required STARS training

Physical Requirements

This is an active position! You'll spend your day:

  • Standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

  • Leading games and activities.

  • Occasionally running, lifting, and keeping up with energetic children.
