Job summary

Unmanned Safety Institute, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Drone Assembly Technician to support build, integration and testing of UAV platforms.

The role is a contract position with an initial term of 3 months, located in North Carolina and/or New York, with potential to transition to full-time based on performance. Ideal candidate will work closely with engineers in a fast-paced startup environment, performing mechanical and electrical assembly and testing.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical assembly.
• Comfortable soldering and working with wiring and small electronic components.
• Experience with drones or similar robotics systems is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with rapid prototyping methods such as 3D printing is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented approach.
• Practical troubleshooting skills and independent work style.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and integrate mechanical components across UAV/UAS platforms.
• Carry out electrical assembly, including soldering, wiring, connectors, and cable routing.
• Assist with functional testing of components and assemblies.
• Diagnose and correct mechanical or electrical issues during build and integration.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve hardware issues.
• Follow drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Maintain organized work area and follow ESD/safety procedures.
• Help improve build processes and technical documentation.
• Contribute to a hands-on, collaborative engineering environment.
