Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Review creative materials to determine talent needs and create session estimates.
  • Estimate talent residuals based on media plan provided by Account and Media team.
  • Manage and monitor talent session and residual payments with third-party vendor.
  • Advise on talent casting specs, hiring categories, zones and exclusivity issues.
  • Interpret SAG/AFTRA code and advise on union requirements.
  • Generate union and non-union performer contracts.
  • Interface with talent agents for scale talent and negotiating with non-union talent.
  • Advise on labor requirements regarding engagement of talent.
  • Check union status of performers, submit Taft Hartley reports, generate session/completion reports.
  • Review completed contracts, W4s, CA/NY wage notices, time reports.
  • Process talent payments, including pension/health contributions and payroll tax deductions.
  • Generate holding fee notices and advise of Maximum Period of Use for union agreements.
  • Defend SAG claims and respond to audit requirements.
  • Screen final commercial to confirm final cast and pay usage.
  • Compile completions reports and final cast lists.
  • Track all talent rights and manage rights trackers with Business Manager.

Droga5’s Business Affairs Department takes a solution-oriented approach to mitigating risk in content production. Our primary role is to advise and support the Production teams in all matters, including contracting with production vendors, content licensing and clearance, talent procurement, traffic and managing/reconciling production budgets. BA’s focus is to ensure the agency delivers quality, thought-provoking content that surpasses our client’s core marketing goals with minimal risk to the agency and client.

Job Summary

The Talent Manager handles the on-camera and voice-over talent responsibilities of film, radio, print, and interactive productions for assigned clients. The Talent Manager works alongside the Business Affairs Manager and Producer to handle the production of content from creative concepting through final billing.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review creative materials to determine talent needs and create session estimates based thereon
  • Estimate talent residuals based on media plan provided by Account and Media team
  • Manage and monitor talent session and residual payments in collaboration with third party vendor
  • Advise on talent casting specs, appropriate talent hiring categories, zone areas and exclusivity issues
  • Interpret SAG/AFTRA code and advise on union requirements
  • Generate union and non-union performer contracts
  • Interface with talent agents for scale talent and negotiating with non-union talent
  • Advise on labor requirements regarding engagement of talent
  • Check union status of performers (Station 12), submit necessary Taft Hartley reports, generate session and completion reports
  • Review completed contracts, W4’s, CA/NY wage notices, time reports etc.
  • Process talent payments, including appropriate pension and health contributions (where appropriate) and payroll tax deductions
  • Generate holding fee notices and advise of Maximum Period of Use for union agreements

Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of work experience in an agency or related business affairs/legal department
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree inarelated field or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Knowledge of performance unions and talent hiring in both the US and abroad
  • Strong organizational, time-management and negotiating skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while managing urgent deadlines
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and listening) and ability to interact with all agency departments
