Job description

Position Summary:

As a Lead Teacher, you will plan lessons and instruct children in activities according to an approved curriculum designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth and development. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment. Additionally, you will promote and participate in all center functions, communicate effectively, and develop positive relationships with families.

Duties:

  1. Implement weekly curricula that address all learning goals.
  2. Provide guidance to other staff in the classroom.
  3. Organize and adhere to a daily schedule.
  4. Follow all State and Discovery Point policies and regulations.
  5. Communicate professionally and kindly with parents, staff, and management.
  6. Maintain a welcoming, positive atmosphere in the classroom.
  7. Ensure the safety and cleanliness of the classroom at all times.

Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare lesson plans and instruct children in age-appropriate activities.
  2. Set up and maintain a safe, engaging, and age-appropriate learning environment.
  3. Clean and sanitize the classroom, materials, and restrooms regularly.
  4. Keep the classroom clean and ready for tours at all times.
  5. Treat children with dignity and respect, demonstrating friendliness, enthusiasm, and care.
  6. Recognize and consider each child's background, talents, interests, learning style, and pace; provide developmentally appropriate activities.
  7. Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  8. Report any injuries or accidents immediately to management and complete the necessary documentation.
  9. Supervise children as required by center and state regulations.
  10. Participate with children in activities both indoors and outdoors.
  11. Plan and conduct parent conferences; provide daily written feedback as appropriate.
  12. Collaborate with the Center Director and/or Owner on parent follow-up and communication.
  13. Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families.
  14. Report suspected abuse or neglect per state regulations.
  15. Attend all staff meetings, training, and programs.
  16. Complete annual state licensing training requirements.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Owner.

Qualifications:

  • Must meet state licensing requirements for education and experience.
  • Knowledge of early childhood education and curriculum.
  • Understanding of child care licensing rules and regulations.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/Fire Safety and other required training.
  • Hold a CDA or degree in ECE.
  • Ability to meet state background check requirements.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • CDA or Staff Credential.

Position Summary (Driver):

As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting children via bus from our center to school and back. Teachers may also ride along to assist with drop-off and pick-up.

Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL license with a clean driving record.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Meet all state requirements for Childcare Driver.
