MV Transportation is seeking a Driver Training Manager in Irvine, CA to lead the driver training program, hire drivers, and deliver classroom as well as behind-the-wheel instruction. The role ensures compliance with ADA, FTA and client policies while maintaining training records and developing effective training materials.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in ADA paratransit or transit driver training, relevant instructor certificates, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Competenze

• Minimum 5 years ADA-complementary paratransit vehicle operator experience or equivalent training/supervision of transit vehicle operators.
• Valid California School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate or Transit Trainer Certificate or equivalent acceptable to client.
• Valid CA driver license class A/B/C as applicable and other licenses required by law.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills; customer service oriented.
• Experience as a trainer (classroom and behind the wheel) preferred.

Responsibilities

MV Transportation is seeking an experienced Driver Training Manager who will manage the driver hiring and training program. The Driver Training Manager will provide classroom instruction to new hire candidates and incumbent employees in defensive driving, passenger assistance, documentation, route planning/mapping, service area familiarization, emergency procedures and all aspects of a vehicle operator position; ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations and company policy.

Job Responsibilities

Recruitment and Hiring

• Maintain training and personnel files
• Establish and maintain application flow log
• Schedule and perform applicant interviews
• Administer pre-employment drug and background checks
• Ensure all required paperwork and documentation is complete and sent to corporate office

Training of Operators

• Perform classroom instruction which meets or exceeds MV requirements
• Perform skills course training as necessary
• Create, implement, and maintain effective cadetting and training schedules
• Schedule cadet training with the Operations Manager with behind the wheel trainers
• Perform observation and cadet training behind the wheel as necessary
• Maintain all training records
• Continuing training as needed to ensure the success of new operators
• Develop, administer, monitor, and continuously improve the CONTRACTOR's Vehicle Operator training program, including new hire training, classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, refresher training, remedial training, inservice training, and oversight of training provided by subcontractors.
• Ensure Vehicle Operators are trained and evaluated to perform their assigned duties safely, effectively, and in accordance with this Agreement and client's established objectives, standards, and performance requirements.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the ADA, applicable FTA requirements, the operation of vehicles and associated passenger accessibility and safety equipment, and all client policies, procedures, and operating requirements applicable to Vehicle Operator training.
• Review subcontractor training programs, materials, and instructional content to ensure consistency with the requirements of this Agreement, applicable laws and regulations, and client policies, procedures, and operating requirements.
• Monitor and verify compliance with all training requirements established under this Agreement and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including required training completion, documentation, recordkeeping, and ongoing qualification of CONTRACTOR and subcontractor personnel.
• Develop, maintain, and update training materials and instructional programs to reflect changes in regulations, policies, operating procedures, technology, and service requirements.
• Monitor training effectiveness and recommend improvements to enhance safety, rider support, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.
• Coordinate with CONTRACTOR management, subcontractors, and client staff to ensure consistent implementation of training requirements throughout the services provided under this Agreement.
• Attend meetings, presentations, and other events as requested by client.
• Be available during normal business hours and remain reachable outside normal business hours for emergencies through client-approved communication methods.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five (5) years of ADA complementary paratransit Vehicle Operator experience or equivalent experience in the training and supervision of transit vehicle operators.
• A valid State of California Department of Education School Bus Driver Instructor Certificate, Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) Transit Trainer Certificate, or equivalent professional training or certification acceptable to client.
• A valid California Class A, B, or C driver's license, as appropriate, and all other licenses required by applicable federal, state, and local regulations to operate vehicles assigned under this Agreement.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Clean driving record
• Must have a current Driver's license for a minimum of three (3) years
• Obtain and maintain a current DOT physical
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
• Strong organizational skills required
• Excellent customer service required
• Act as a back-up for the Safety Manager
• Perform Road Supervisor duties as necessary
• Able to perform all operator duties as necessary
• One (1) to three (3) years of training experience
• Experience as a Behind the Wheel Instructor preferred
• Experience as a Classroom Instructor preferred

Starting salary range: $92,272-$124,838
