Position Purpose:

Responsible for training and/or re-training delivery drivers on on all aspects of the delivery driver job duties. Utilizes all company training guides, manuals, checklists and processes to ensure compliance with company policies, practices, safety and DOT regulations. Performs preferred work method observations and provides verbal and written feedback on driver trainees' performance including suggested development actions. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills. Utilizes all systems and tools effectively, i.e. computer, software systems.
  • Exceptionally strong knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations (i.e., hours of service, pre-trip/post-trip, etc) and company safety policies and practices. Ensures all policies are followed.
  • Delivers hands‑on training that allows for maximum transfer of knowledge while ensuring customer needs, service times, labor and transportation costs are met and within guidelines.
  • Provides ongoing and timely feedback to assigned driver trainees and supervisory staff. Feedback includes positive reinforcement and constructive corrective actions.
  • Understands and exhibits strong customer service skills.
  • Works with new driver hires and experienced drivers in classroom and/or field settings to prepare them for a successful professional driver career.
  • May supplement PFG Driver Training Manual with local programs specific to the location, products and reports used in that market. Performs all route delivery duties per company guidelines and safety regulations including pre/post trip, inspection of load and freight, adherence to delivery windows, ensures accuracy of customer delivery, utilizes equipment as prescribed, collects cash/check if required, completes returns and driver-check in process and performs necessary housekeeping to ensure cleanliness of tractor and trailer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

Required Experience: 1 - 3 Years

At least 2 years of route Driving experience overall

Route delivery driver experience specifically in foodservice distribution industry with in-depth knowledge of DOT regulations.

Computerized fleet operations management systems knowledge (i.e. PeopleNet)

Valid CDL A and DOT Health Card

Must be 21 years of age

Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)

Preferred qualifications:

Preferred Education: Associates/2-year technical; Technical school, Associates degree or other certification in learning and development training methods

Preferred Experience: 1 - 3 Years

Transportation experience specifically in foodservice distribution industry route delivery

Small group and one-on-one training experience Basic/Intermediate computer skills
