Job summary

DSV is hiring a CDL Shuttle Driver for the Lancaster, USA location. The role involves operating a semi-tractor trailer to load and deliver products between the plant and warehouse, adhering to safety and quality work instructions.

Under supervision, you will follow laws and company policies, coordinate with warehouse staff, and perform routine vehicle inspections and light maintenance. Overtime may be required as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operating the shuttle vehicle on each trip and following all applicable laws and company policies.
• Accounting for records involving trailer numbers and vehicle positions.
• Interacting daily with warehouse supervisors and complying with safety requirements.
• Communicating with operations and warehouse personnel via cellular phone or 2-way radio in a courteous, professional manner.
• Maneuvering trucks into loading/unloading positions and placing safety wheel chocks; ensure jack stands if required.
• Using airline/electrical hookup and backing procedures as required.
• Following all company policies, guidelines and quality procedures.
• Performing other job-related duties as assigned.
• Inspecting and performing minor maintenance on equipment daily.
• Assisting in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard.
• Willingness to work overtime as dictated by business needs.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the shift supervisor and/or the shift team leader, the CDL Shuttle Driver will be responsible for operating a semi-tractor trailer vehicle for the loading and delivery of products to/from the plant to the warehouse in a manner consistent with all safety, quality, and operational work instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for safely operating the shuttle vehicle on each trip. Must follow all applicable laws and company policy.

• Responsible for accounting for records involving trailer numbers and position of vehicles.

• Must function and interact on a daily basis with warehouse supervisors and comply with warehouse safety requirements.

• Must communicate using cellular telephone or 2-way radio with operations, and warehouse personnel in a courteous and professional manner.

• Must maneuver trucks into loading and unloading position, following signal from loading crew as needed. Also place safety wheel chocks in front of wheel/tire to prevent the trailer from rolling. If pup trailer movement is involved; extra care must be taken on the placement of the trailer jack stand (when at dock, jack stand must be on the ground and in a locked position). If there is not a jack stand installed on the trailer the customer must be notified.

• Proper use of Airline/Electrical hookup/and Backing procedure is a must.

• Follow all company policies, guidelines, and quality procedures.

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

• On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the equipment.

• Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and yard

• Work overtime as dictated by business whether mandatory or voluntary.
