The Driver Support Supervisor is responsible for guiding drivers through effective problem solving and handling daily issues in Transportation. This role serves as the main driver support resource, managing personnel including coaching, mentoring, counseling, and discipline. The role also acts as the knowledge base expert for all driver activities related to LTL, Bulk, and Purchasing runs. Additionally, the Supervisor trains new drivers, retrains existing drivers, and conducts post-incident training. The position oversees driver-related duties, behaviors, standards, efficiency, and adherence to Webb’s Work Instructions.
This role ensures that activities, systems, and processes align with “Webb’s Quality and Environmental Commitment.”
REPORTS TO: Transportation Manager
DIRECT REPORTS: Webb Hazmat Drivers (All Sites)
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary contact for drivers regarding customer issues, driver issues, equipment breakdowns, incidents, accidents, quality alerts, etc.
- Manage drivers as a Servant Leader, providing support and coaching problem-solving skills.
- Be accountable for driver performance, coaching, mentoring, counseling, and discipline.
- Monitor pre/post trip procedures to ensure thorough and complete operations.
- Work with sales on delivery forms to ensure drivers have necessary information for successful and safe deliveries.
- Monitor axle weights to prevent overweight trucks.
- Embrace and recommend technological solutions for continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report CSA violations, ensuring driver compliance.
- Assist in setting annual goals to improve efficiency, safety, and culture.
- Conduct Bulk Site Visits as needed.
- Review monthly credit card transactions for drivers.
- Backup payroll duties related to time off (vacation, PMLA, HR functions).
- Manage Samsara/ELD responsibilities.
- Investigate all harsh events and convert them into Webb Incident Reports.
- Monitor driver behaviors/performance via Samsara/ELD.
- Assist in accident/incident investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
- Maintain and update the Webb Disciplinary Matrix.
- Respond to Webb Incident Reports, Quality Reports, and internal observations.
- Review Samsara harsh events and decide on incident reporting.
- Attend all Webb meetings as required.
- Promote an open-door policy and maintain confidentiality.
- Prepare daily transportation summaries for operations management.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Address attendance issues appropriately.
Environmental, Health, and Safety:
- Contribute to compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
- Maintain documentation for Webb Chemical operations and update as needed.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience in transportation, personnel management, or Hazmat driving (5+ years).
- CDL A License with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- TWIC Card or ability to obtain one.
- Experience in transportation/driver supervision with similar duties.
- Understanding of DOT requirements for CDL-A Hazmat Drivers.
- Proven leadership skills fostering accountability and responsibility.
- Ability to enforce policies and hold staff accountable.
- Judgment and decision-making skills.
- Use of PPE as required by sites.
- Knowledge of procedures and work instructions.
- Strong organizational skills and driver knowledge (LTL, Bulk, Purchasing).
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to change.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with change management.

Work Schedule:
- Typically 9 hours/day, Monday-Friday, with flexibility for early or late hours due to driver needs.
- Attendance at Webb meetings is mandatory.
- Weekend and after-hours work as needed.
- Travel to other sites, suppliers, and training events as scheduled.
