Job description

Overview
Supervises the daily activities of delivery drivers, ensures DOT compliance and the efficiency of the department by actively engaging in the routing, standardization, and training of the drivers to aid in the distribution of all company products in a safe manner.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in related field highly preferred; high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Four years prior supervisory experience required.
  • Class A commercial driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement and manual transmission experience required (must also possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with FMCSA Part 391.41 prior to operating a commercial motor vehicle for Borden Dairy Company).
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology, highly preferred.
Other Functions:
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data required.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required.
  • Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and systematic approach to problem solving is required.
  • Must exhibit strong leadership skills and ability to train, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Must be able to work in hot and cold climates, both indoors and outdoors and on refrigerated trucks.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend with full range of body motion.
  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, lead, and mentor Route Sales Representatives.
  • Provide assistance to Distribution Manager as it relates to training, improving efficiency of distribution operations, data evaluation, effective and efficient utilization of equipment, and route optimization.
  • Prioritize Route Sales Representative workload, assisting Distribution Manager in scheduling and assessing performance.
  • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, identify and implement opportunities to improve processes.
  • Comply with and enforce all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
  • Use and enforce use of all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with supply chain leadership team.
  • Partner with all functional departments to ensure meeting business unit and company safety, service, cost, and people goals.
