Job summary

DeepOcean US in Houston, TX is seeking a Driver - Shop Technician to safely transport, maintain, and prepare tooling and equipment across facilities and field operations. The role supports shop, warehouse, field and project operations with hands-on maintenance and inventory control.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, 1-2 years driving/mechanical experience, and forklift certification is a plus. You must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying environments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL preferred but not required).
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in driving, equipment handling, or mechanical work.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in various environments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn technical skills.
  • Forklift certification or experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate vehicles to transport tools, equipment, materials, and personnel.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload tooling and equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance on vehicles, trailers, tools, and shop equipment.
  • Maintain inventory records and ensure tools and equipment are properly identified, tracked, and returned after use.
  • Prepare, clean, inspect, and organize tools and equipment for upcoming projects and field operations.
  • Assist technicians and field personnel with tooling requirements, including staging, packaging, mobilization, and demobilization of equipment.
  • Perform basic mechanical, fabrication, repair, maintenance, and shop duties as needed.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, or other material‑handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tooling shop, yard, warehouse, and vehicle areas.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks, trailers, containers, and offshore/project equipment.
  • Coordinate with operations, project teams, mechanics, and field personnel to ensure tooling is available when and where needed.
  • Identify damaged, missing, or defective tools and equipment and report issues to management.
  • Maintain required driving, vehicle, inspection, maintenance, and tooling documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, PPE requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

DeepOcean has an exciting opportunity for a Driver - Shop Technician to join our team on a full-time basis located in Houston, TX.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Driver / Shop Technician is responsible for the safe transportation, maintenance, preparation, organization, and tracking of company tooling and equipment while providing hands‑on support to shop, warehouse, field, and project operations.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport tools, equipment, materials, and personnel between company facilities, job sites, vendors, and other locations.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload tooling and equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and DOT requirements.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles, trailers, tools, and shop equipment.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure tools and equipment are properly identified, tracked, and returned after use.
