We are currently looking to fill the position of Propane Driver / Service Technician based at our Nashport, OH Service Center. This position is responsible for providing direct support and services to all members/consumers served. The role requires manual labor and a commitment to safety standards and practices in the propane industry.

Nature and Scope of Position (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)
  • Support and incorporate the Cooperative’s Mission, Vision and Values in professional behavior and decisions.
  • Comply with all Cooperative policies, procedures, goals and objectives and meet attendance and punctuality guidelines.
  • Understand, observe and enforce cooperative safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions to the department supervisor or safety personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws.
  • Install and replace propane storage tanks, lines, regulators, and meters at various member locations.
  • Perform gas leak and appliance inspections.
  • Perform line leak testing using industry‑specific equipment.
  • Evaluate potential locations for the installation of propane tanks, regulators and lines.
  • Deliver propane and propane accessories to members.
  • Respond to emergency calls, including after regular working hours and on Saturdays, Sundays, and company‑observed holidays.
  • Prepare documentation on propane installations, checks, replacements, repairs and inspections.
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary.   • Education and/or Experience:
    • High school diploma along with two to three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Certificates, Licenses and/or Training:
    • Valid Class B or greater Commercial Driver’s License with a good driving record.
    • Hazardous materials, tanker and air brakes endorsements.
    • Certification in propane system installation, operation and service through an approved testing agency.
    • Ability to attend meetings and/or training seminars when requested.
  • Language and Interpersonal Skills:
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret publications outlining Standard Gas Codes, NFPA‑54 and NFPA‑58, National Fuel Gas Codes and Standard Industry Practices.
    • Ability to interpret various instructions provided in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Other Skills and Abilities:
    • Work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Utilize resources to stay informed of new technology in the gas industry.
    • Understand and maintain compliance with approved industry methods, safety practices and regulatory guidelines.
    • Identify and use tools commonly employed in the gas industry.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Regular walking, standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, stooping, hand‑tool usage, operating tools and power equipment, and driving a company truck.
  • Must be able to lift objects in excess of 50 pounds on occasion; in general, employees lifting more than 50 pounds should use lifting devices or assistance.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Subject to pre‑employment physical, background, and substance abuse testing, and random testing in accordance with the cooperative’s substance abuse policy.
