Job summary

Werner Construction Inc is seeking a Driver Trainer and Safety Coordinator based at the Hastings, Nebraska shop. You will train and coach Werner's company drivers, oversee safety for lease drivers, and ensure practices meet company standards on the road and at job sites.

You will monitor safety data via FleetWatcher and dash cam systems, deliver coaching, document actions, and collaborate with Maintenance, HR, and project managers to uphold a safety-first culture across Werner's driving network.

Qualifications

• Experience training drivers and enforcing safety standards.
• Ability to coach and provide feedback based on ride-alongs and telematics.
• Familiarity with fleet safety tools like telematics and dash cams.
• Strong documentation and coordination with maintenance and HR.

Responsibilities

• Conduct driver evaluations and training for new company drivers.
• Provide ongoing coaching to existing drivers beyond the first week.
• Observe drivers via ride-alongs to identify coaching opportunities.
• Monitor safety data for company and lease drivers using FleetWatcher.
• Deliver timely feedback based on observations and events.
• Coordinate safety concerns with Werner leadership and lease contacts.
• Document training, safety incidents, and corrective actions.
• Help implement modern driver safety programs and telematics initiatives.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Safety, HR, and project managers on safety.
• Assist vetting of new lease drivers and confirm insurance/documentation.
• Troubleshoot basic truck issues and coordinate with maintenance as needed.
• Take corrective action when unsafe behavior occurs, including suspension.
• Support a safety-first culture across Werner's driving network.
