Job summary

AltaMed Health Services Corporation is seeking a Driver Safety Coordinator to oversee transportation safety programs and audits. The role focuses on incident investigation, recordkeeping, and policy recommendations to enhance driver and passenger safety across AltaMed's transportation operations.

The candidate should have a high school diploma, a Class B license with P endorsement, and at least five years of driving experience with geriatric or frail populations.

Qualifications

• Class B license with P endorsement for multiple passengers.
• Five years of driving experience with geriatric/frail elderly population.
• Two+ years developing and delivering transportation safety training.
• Safety management certification preferred.
• LA DOT city permit and CA VTTD required.
• Valid BLS certification or higher per AHA/Red Cross guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, monitor and perform transportation safety-related functions for AltaMed Transportation Division.
• Investigate workplace accidents and passenger safety issues; make policy recommendations.
• Maintain driver and vehicle safety records; audit driver logs for accuracy and compliance.
• Audit vehicle maintenance records; recommend measures to reduce accidents and hazards.
• Ensure safety inspections are scheduled, performed, and documented.
• Support safety training and ongoing driver safety programs.

Job Overview

The Driver Safety Coordinator performs, coordinates, and monitors transportation safety-related functions for the AltaMed Transportation Division; investigates workplace accidents and occurrences; passenger safety issues and occurrences; makes recommendations regarding transportation safety policies and procedures; and conducts safety-related training. This role is also responsible for participant safety and driver safety on fixed routes and/or specialty appointments. This role will maintain a variety of records and files related to driver and vehicle safety and perform audits on vehicle and driver logs to ensure accuracy and compliance of documentation. This role will also audit maintenance records, recommend measures to reduce accidents and hazards, and ensure that safety inspections are properly scheduled, performed, monitored, and documented.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma required; Associate of Arts Degree preferred.
• A Class B (with P endorsement for multiple passengers) driver’s license required; no ‘license points’ preferred.
• A minimum of five years’ driving experience required, working with the geriatric and/or frail elderly population.
• A minimum of two years’ experience working in the development and presentation of training programs in the transportation industry and in the safety field is required.
• Certification in safety management or a related field is preferred.
• LA DOT city permit and CA VTTD (Verification of Transit Training Document) required.
• A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Compensation

$25.00 - $28.00 hourly
