Waste Management is seeking experienced truck drivers in New York to operate heavy-duty trucks for waste collection and recycling. Drivers operate heavy‑duy trucks with front, side, or rear‑end load‑lift attachments depending on the line of business they operate and the type of truck. Drivers transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycle facility when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers provide pickup of containers filled with waste or recyclable material; containers may weigh in excess of 1,000 lb and sometimes require maneuvering wheeled containers to a pickup stage area. Commercial drivers navigate high‑traffic, congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots; highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential. Residential drivers collect residential household waste or recyclable material, maneuver safely in residential environments, and navigate congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots. Roll‑off drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open‑top and compactor containers from customer locations, navigate driveways, alleyways, lots, and high‑traffic roadways, and may operate in tight overhead environments on industrial routes; highly skilled backing maneuvers are essential.
This role is designated as safety sensitive and will require the successful candidate to strictly comply with all safety rules and protocols. As part of the ongoing employment requirements, the successful candidate may be subject to drug and alcohol testing—including pre‑employment screening, post‑incident evaluations, reasonable suspicion checks, and random testing—in accordance with government regulations and company policies.
