Job summary

Hospice Savannah Inc. seeks a dedicated Driver to safely transport PACE participants to the program site and back, while maintaining accurate transportation logs.

The role includes assisting participants with boarding, delivering medications, supplies, and medical equipment to homes, and sharing daily route updates with fellow drivers. As a member of the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), you will contribute participant-specific observations to support coordinated care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid GA Driver's License.
• Clean driving record with no traffic citations or violations within the past 12 months.
• 1 year of experience with professional driving/transportation.
• Must be able to operate mid-to-large size vehicle and possess general automobile mechanism knowledge.
• Knowledge of assisting patients or persons with Dementia/Alzheimer Disease, preferred, and/or 1 year with frail or elderly population.
• Must not have been convicted of crimes involving physical, sexual, drug, or alcohol abuse.
• Must pass required exclusion screenings (including LEIE) and remain eligible for federally funded programs.

The role requires frequent sitting while driving, as well as standing, walking, bending, and assisting participants with transfers or mobility needs in various environments. The employee must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds in relation to wheelchairs, medical equipment, and supply deliveries. Entering participants’ homes and healthcare facilities may involve navigating uneven surfaces, tight spaces, and varying sanitary or environmental conditions. The role also requires exposure to outdoor weather during participant pick-ups, drop-offs, and deliveries.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time and a nonexempt position. Hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional variations based on participant needs, transportation schedules, or operational requirements.TravelTravel is a primary function of this role. The employee regularly drives within the PACE service area to transport participants and deliver supplies, medications, and equipment. Occasional travel to training sessions or other PACE-related locations may also be required.
