Job summary

SIG SAUER, Inc. in New Hampshire is seeking a Transport Driver responsible for safe loading, unloading and transport of materials to process vendors using a box truck or SIG SAUER vehicle.

The role includes quality checks, DOT compliance, and flexible support in the OSP area as needed. This non-exempt position requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license with a clean record, and typically 5 years of box truck driving experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain company vehicle in safe, legal condition.
  • Load/unload materials to/from vendors with pallet jack or forklift.
  • Perform quality checks and counts at vendor per instructions.
  • Support OSP technician function when not driving.
  • Ensure loads are secured and compliant with DOT requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in vehicle and work area.
  • May work overtime or alternative shifts as needed.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the safe transport of materials to and from our process vendors. The Driver will utilize a box truck or suitable SIG SAUER vehicle, pallet jack and or fork truck to load and unload materials for processing. The Driver will be responsible for performing quality checks and counts while at the vendor. The Driver will be responsible for learning the OSP Technician function so that they are able to perform in this position while not performing the responsibilities of a Driver.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a clean vehicle, and monitors the vehicles maintenance schedule.
  • Assures that all safety requirements are met to meet DOT guidelines.
  • Follows laws pertaining to the removal of snow, and ice from the top of the vehicle.
  • Assures that loads are positioned, and or strapped as to be stable during transport.
  • Performs quality inspections, and verifies counts at the vendor as instructed.
  • If driving duties are not required, the driver will assist in the OSP area as assigned.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required safety, and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance, and punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses valid driver’s license with acceptable drivers record.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience driving box truck. Experience driving large vehicles a plus. CDL is not required.
  • Must be capable of passing DOT physical.
  • Must be able to convey ideas and information clearly, concisely, and accurately to others, in both verbally and in written form.

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Drives company vehicle in accordance with DMV rules and regulations, and will act in a safe and courteous manner at all times
  • Has the ability to manage moving large loads using a pallet jack or fork truck in/out of the vehicle safely.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping, squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
