Job summary

The Bay Family of Companies is seeking a Non CDL Driver to deliver insulation materials and support warehouse operations. You will operate box trucks and vans, load and unload at job sites, and uphold our safety standards on every mile.

You will use GPS for routing, complete DOT logs, and report issues to the Plant Manager. A 23+ year old with a HS diploma and 1 year of verifiable driving experience is required; forklift certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be 23 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of verifiable commercial driving in the last 5 years.
  • Experience with straight trucks or box trucks only.
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record per DOT standards.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain it upon hire.
  • Experience with fiberglass or metal insulation preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and precise shipment verification.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to read load sheets and instructions, and basic math for square footage.
  • Must lift up to 50 lbs and work in a production environment.
  • Flexible schedule based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate non-CDL box trucks, straight trucks, or delivery vans per schedule and DOT guidelines.
  • Use vehicle safety systems and maps to determine routes for job sites and deliveries.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report issues to Plant Manager.
  • Complete daily DOT logs and processing of paperwork (P/O, BOL, fuel receipts, trip reports).
  • Load and unload insulation rolls and accessories at job sites while maintaining material integrity.
  • Provide professional customer service during deliveries; collect COD charges when required.
  • Report job site issues to Plant Manager to enable immediate resolution.
  • Keep work areas clean and help production/shipping to meet orders.
  • Handle hazardous materials in safety-compliant manner and follow regulations.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned, including production support.

Description

Position Summary:

As a Non CDL Driver, you are a critical link in our supply chain, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of metal building insulation products directly to our customers. This role requires a professional who is equally skilled behind the wheel and at the job site, handling the physical loading and unloading of materials with precision. You will operate equipment outfitted with advanced safety technology—including front-facing, driver-facing, and rearward mirror-mounted cameras to maintain our high safety standards. When not on the road, you will support our local operations through warehouse assistance, maintaining a "customer-first" attitude to uphold our reputation for excellence in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safe Vehicle Operation
    • Operate non CDL box trucks, straight trucks or delivery vans to deliver insulation materials within a pre-determined schedule, strictly adhering to all DOT regulations and Corporate Safety guidelines.
  • Safety Technology
    • Utilize integrated vehicle safety systems, including driver-facing dash cameras, front-facing dash cameras, and rearward-facing mirror-mounted cameras to ensure the highest standards of road safety and incident prevention.
    • Efficiently utilize maps and GPS to determine the most effective routes to job sites and delivery locations.
  • Equipment Maintenance
    • Maintain the truck and perform comprehensive daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Provide minor maintenance as needed and immediately report maintenance issues to the Plant Manager.
  • Compliance and Documentation
    • Complete daily DOT logs via Electronic Device Fleet Tracking (ELD). Accurately process all paperwork, including picking lists, bills of lading, fuel receipts, and trip reports.
  • Loading and Unloading
    • Hand-on responsibility for the loading and unloading of insulation rolls and accessories at job sites and customer offices, ensuring material integrity throughout the process.
  • Customer Relations
    • Provide professional customer service during deliveries, ensuring customers sign for receipts and collecting COD charges when specified.
  • Communication
    • Act as a liaison between the field and the plant by reporting any job site issues to the Plant Manager for immediate customer resolution.
  • Housekeeping & Support
    • Keep work areas, aisles, and storage zones clean, organized, and free from debris, empty pallets, or packaging waste.
    • Assist production and shipping personnel as needed to ensure on-time order fulfillment and efficient workflow.
    • Handle any hazardous or special materials under supervision and in accordance with safety regulations.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervision or management which could consist of helping in all areas including production.
Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Age, Education & Experience: 23 years of age, High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 1 full year of verifiable commercial driving experience in the last 5 years.
    • Straight truck or box truck experience only
  • Driving Record: Maintenance of an acceptable driving record and valid license is a condition of continued employment, per DOT and insurance provider standards.
  • Equipment: Valid forklift certification, or the ability to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with fiberglass insulation, facing materials, or metal building insulation is preferred.
  • Strong Attention to Detail: High level of precision in performing tasks and verifying shipments.
  • Excellent Communication: Ability to relay information clearly to team members and supervisors.
  • Teamwork Skills: A collaborative mindset to reach daily production and loading goals.
  • Instruction Interpretation: Ability to read, understand, and follow technical work instructions and load sheets.
  • Basic Mathematical Proficiency: Ability to accurately calculate square footage based on dimensions.
    • Capability to determine the quantity of rolls required for a load based on specific square footage requirements.
  • Safety & Physicality: Proven commitment to workplace safety and organization. Must have the physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform duties in a production environment.
  • Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs and delivery schedules.
Work Environment & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
  • Setting: Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with regular exposure to fiberglass insulation materials.
  • Physical Demands: This position requires continuous standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Required PPE: Safety glasses and OSHA-compliant safety-toed footwear must be worn at all times in production and warehouse areas.
  • Optional PPE: Dust masks are available for use at the employee’s discretion.
