Job summary

Gerdau North America is looking for a CDL Class A Driver to join our team. The role involves operating diesel straight trucks and tractor/trailers to pick up and deliver steel products to customers, while adhering to DOT regulations.

You’ll work weekday day shifts, are responsible for accurate logs and load securement, and must maintain professional relations with customers. Salary is $28.56 per hour with benefits outlined.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL (Tanker and HazMat endorsements are a plus).
• Minimum of 9 months experience operating large mobile equipment or hauling vehicles.
• Comfort using smartphone/GPS technology.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; SAP experience is an asset).
• Knowledge of traffic regulations and load restrictions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Flexibility to work in various weather conditions.
• Strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate diesel straight trucks and tractor/trailers (roll-off, dump, and van trailers).
• Pick up and deliver steel products and materials to suppliers and customers.
• Follow established procedures while ensuring full compliance with DOT regulations.
• Read and work from invoices, shipping tickets, and electronic instructions.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, trip reports, and inspection reports.
• Assist with loading/unloading, secure loads properly, and ensure safe transport.
• Maintain professional and courteous relationships with customers and vendors.
• Perform routine vehicle cleaning and basic upkeep.
