Job description

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Driver & Material Handler to support logistics and material movement between AST’s adjacent facilities. This role involves daily operation of a small flatbed truck and forklift to transport raw materials, tooling, and finished parts between buildings, as well as assist with loading, unloading, and general warehouse organization. The ideal candidate is dependable, familiar with safe handling practices, and experienced with both vehicle and forklift operation in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a small company truck to transport materials, parts, equipment, and tools between nearby AST facilities
• Load, unload, and secure items on the 20 ft flatbed truck using appropriate strapping and handling methods
• Safely operate forklifts ranging from 3,500 to 35,000 lbs. capacity to move goods around the yard and inside the facilities
• Assist with daily shipping and receiving tasks, staging of materials, and internal deliveries across departments
• Relocate and organize raw material, in-process parts, and finished goods in designated storage areas
• Maintain cleanliness and order in warehouse and yard areas; assist with general material handling and organization tasks
• Perform daily vehicle and forklift inspections, and report any mechanical or safety issues
• Follow all company safety protocols, driving guidelines, and material handling procedures
• Communicate effectively with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to support efficient operations

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver’s license required; clean driving record preferred
• Forklift certification and 1+ year of forklift operation experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting
• Prior experience operating a flatbed truck or light-duty commercial vehicle preferred
• Strong understanding of safe loading, strapping, and material transport practices
• Ability to lift and maneuver items up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance
• Strong communication, reliability, and time management skills
• Basic knowledge of warehouse systems or ability to use inventory logs and tools is a plus
• Willingness to work outdoors as needed when moving materials between buildings

Job Type & Pay

  • Job Type: Full-Time, In-Person
  • Pay Range: $20.00 – $28.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (8-hour shift)
  • Expected Hours: 40 hours per week (plus overtime as needed)
