Description

The Local Driver is responsible for the safe operation of company trucks for timely delivery of products to customer and company locations. The driver will safely load, unload, and transfer products as needed utilizing various equipment and forklifts within the branch location, trucks/trailers, and sites. The Driver will assist with warehouse duties and front counter responsibilities as needed, providing high-quality customer service.

Position Responsibilities may include;

• Load, unload, and deliver products to customer sites within designated time frames safely using the most efficient routes possible.
• Maintain logs and reports to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety standards.
• Properly load, block, brace, and secure cargo.
• Ensure continuous compliance with transportation laws and regulations.
• Operate forklifts safely and accurately transfer, load, and unload products.
• Perform pre-check and post-check operations on vehicles and equipment.
• Assist with warehouse duties, ensuring accurate loading and transfer of products.
• Follow safety and housekeeping practices.
• Perform heavy lifting as required.
• Act as backup for warehouse and front desk duties.
• Perform additional duties as needed.

Knowledge & Skills

• Minimum 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of commercial truck mechanics and DOT regulations.
• At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the past 3 years.
• Clean DMV record with no more than 2 violations or preventable accidents in 3 years.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Proficient in MS Office, Mincron, and scanning tools.
• Ability to multi-task and assist in warehouse or front counter duties.
• Timely and conscientious with work hours.
• Ability to operate a forklift.

Experience

3+ years of driving a commercial vehicle and a current valid driver’s license.

Education/Certification

High school diploma or GED, with annual DOT screening.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs, perform repetitive lifting, and stand or walk for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations accepted where applicable.

Reports To

Branch Manager, Warehouse Manager/Coordinator, or HUB Manager.
