This role focuses on evaluating driver license applicants through standardized knowledge and practical driving tests. You will ensure applicants meet required safety standards and follow all testing procedures. As a Driver License Examiner, you will perform the following duties:

• Applicant Evaluation: Determine physical readiness, driving ability, and vehicle condition for safe operation
• Knowledge Testing: Administer written examinations to assess understanding of the Vehicle Code and traffic signs
• Driving Tests: Conduct pre-trip inspections and administer road tests for non-commercial license applicants
• Document Review: Examine applications, registrations, and permits to identify errors or potential fraud
• Vision Screening: Perform telebinocular, color perception, and other required vision tests
• Customer Service: Follow customer service policies and apply fee waiver guidelines accurately

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours/week
• Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
• Overtime and travel to other driver license centers may be required as necessary.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant ( Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration ); or
• Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Special Requirements:

• All positions require an active Pennsylvania non‑commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty‑one years of age at the time of application.
• All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
• All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
