Job summary

Fortune Fish & Gourmet seeks a Driver II - Class B in New Orleans, LA. You will deliver and unload perishable products, act as the main customer contact, and uphold safety and HACCP standards while driving our vehicles.

Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, loading/offloading, obtaining signatures, maintaining temperature control, and reporting issues to supervision. Requires a Class B license and 2–3 years of commercial driving experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of commercial driving experience.
  • Friendly, outgoing, and courteous customer service demeanor.
  • Must have a valid Class B License.
  • Ability to work long shifts, Saturdays.
  • Basic English-speaking proficiency.
  • Must pass Medical Examiner’s Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all pre-trip responsibilities to include checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries.
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route and ensure vehicle is properly secured during drop-offs.
  • Load and unload products from vehicle using dolly or other appropriate devices safely.
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures confirming receipt of product.
  • Contact management to discuss issues or concerns as they arise throughout the workday.
  • Perform all post-delivery actions, including unloading damaged product and completing necessary documents.
  • Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) and HACCP regulations during operation of the truck and handling of product.
  • Monitor and ensure temperature-controlled vehicles maintain required temperature limits.
  • Develop and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and report any complaints to Supervisor.
  • Collect money from customers and properly record transactions, ensuring secure payments.
  • Ensure safety training is current as per company policy.
  • Supports the Fleet Manager by ensuring vehicle maintenance and accurate records.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Summary of Position: The Delivery Driver Class B will deliver and unload various company products, including, but not limited to, seafood, beef, poultry, and gourmet products. The employee will act as key point of contact with the customer, and in so doing will provide the highest levels of customer service. The incumbent will ensure that high safety standards are always maintained while operating Fortune Fish and Gourmet’s vehicle. Moreover, the utmost care will be applied in handling the company’s perishable products in accordance with HACCP.



  • Perform all pre-trip responsibilities to include checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries.

  • Develop and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and goodwill by providing professional assistance and by demonstrating an interest in the customer’s needs. Report any complaints to Supervisor.

  • Collect money from customers and properly record transactions on company documentation, including invoices. Ensure that payment (cash, checks, etc.) are properly secured.

  • Ensure that safety training is current as per company policy.

  • Supports the Fleet Manager by ensuring that vehicles are maintained according to schedule and records are current and correct.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.



  • Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience – 2- 3 years of commercial driving experience. Transportation of temperature-controlled product experience preferred.

  • Customer Service – Friendly, outgoing, and courteous customer service demeanor.

  • Work ethic – A sense of urgency in meeting critical and time-sensitive deadlines with the ability to work with limited supervision.

  • Licensing - Must have a valid Class B License.

  • Environmental – Available to work long shifts and Saturdays.

  • Language – Basic English-speaking proficiency.

  • A combination of the above will also be considered.



  • Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, and driving

  • Regularly be able to lift up to 80 pounds; may occasionally need to lift over 80 pounds

  • Requires constant mental and visual attention, as well as the ability to see well in limited light scenarios

  • Repetitive reaching, bending, and twisting

  • Repetitive pushing and pulling

  • Must be able to successfully pass a Medical Examiner’s Certification
