Job summary

Gulf Coast Blood is seeking a driver for Hospital Services to transport blood from donor sites to the Component Laboratory and deliver blood components to designated locations. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and punctuality.

Requires a High School diploma or GED, Texas driver license, and at least one year of customer service or professional driving experience. You will complete paperwork, perform inspections, and help ensure quality through careful handling.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver blood components to and return from designated locations.
  • Perform visual inspections and verify numbering/labeling/appearance of units.
  • Place returned units on observation shelves and notify supervisor of abnormalities.
  • Complete all required paperwork for consignment and return of blood components.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and SOP policies.

The Driver is responsible for transporting blood from donor sites to Component Laboratory and conduct the delivery of blood components to designated locations while maintaining proper record keeping.

In this role, you will:
  • Deliver blood components to and return from designated locations.
  • Perform visual inspections and verify numbering/labeling/appearance of all units selected for delivery to ensure quality control standards are met.
  • Place returned units on designated observation shelves, notifying supervisor or laboratory personnel of any abnormalities.
  • Perform the Stoplight computer check on each consignment delivered to ensure the product is within acceptable date ranges and all products from that consignment are in the delivery.
  • Properly complete all required paperwork documents for consignment and return of blood components to designated locations.
  • Ensure compliance with acceptability standards as set forth in the Vehicle Safety and Loss Control Policy, Standard Operating Procedures Manual and various other policies, procedures and protocol.
We need someone who has:
  • High School Diploma or GED

Job duties involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood with a risk of exposure to Hepatitis and HIV.
