Goodwill Industries® Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc. is seeking a full-time Driver Helper to assist the driver with loading and unloading trucks and trailers.

The role involves helping sort and place donated goods, ensuring safety and efficiency in all tasks, and supporting delivery and store shipment operations. The candidate should be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, with a focus on teamwork, reliable transportation, and a strong commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass drug and background screening.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must provide valid Driver’s License.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be insurable on company auto policy.
• No criminal record indicating theft, violence, dishonesty or predatory behavior.

Responsibilities

• Assist with loading and unloading donated goods and organize items into designated containers.
• Help load trucks and trailers with processed goods for store shipments and other runs.
• Assist drivers with navigation and identify potential hazards.
• Follow Goodwill Industries Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada policies and safety requirements.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Driver Helper, a full-time position, works under the supervision of the Transportation Manager and is responsible for assisting the Driver with loading and unloading trucks and trailers as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with the loading and unloading of all donated goods, ensuring proper sorting and placement of materials into designated containers.
• Assist in loading and unloading of all trucks and trailers with processed goods and materials for store shipments, salvage and trash runs.
• Assist drivers with navigation and observation of potential hazards.
• Ensures compliance with all Goodwill Industries® Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass drug and background screening.
• Must function collaboratively within a team environment yet remain independently resourceful.
• Must have excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment, with the aptitude to learn to operate pallet jack and hand trucks
• Forklift experience is a plus
• Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
• Must have the ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
• Must provide and maintain valid Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable on companies’ automobile policy.
• Must have access to reliable transportation that does not interfere with performing the essential functions of the job description, cause tardiness, or unexcused absences.
• Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property.
• No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
