DEFINITION: Under limited supervision, performs a variety of tasks in the Parks and Building Maintenance Division. Drives City vehicle and performs various department assistance duties as requested.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is illustrative only and is not comprehensive.

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled manual tasks; loads and unloads equipment, moves and arranges furniture; locks and/or unlocks City buildings and restroom facilities; observes and reports changes in facility/park conditions; maintains basic records of work performed and materials used; assists City staff with requests; may supervise volunteers and court workers; may work weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid California Class C Driver License with a good driver record (provide copy)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds without assistance
  • Knowledge of safe work practices
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor involving strength, dexterity, and coordination
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Maintain basic records of work and materials
  • Read, write, and follow instructions
